Augusto Jaramillo Pineda

Excessive self-reflection, radical rivalries for ultimate recognition and ‘eternal youth’ determine the scenario: the “true worldly dreams of young humanity” (S. Freud) as a rushing showdown of hysterical vanities and expedient manipulations. But what are the longings or fears that drive us to sacrifice the chances of living together to a futile quest for the perfect look? And what follows after the party?

The permanent search for the ideal image – on monitors, advertising posters or mobile phone self-portraits – generates itself as an endless loop of insatiable desire that allows neither aging nor solidarity. The young artists pose the question of meaning to obsessive self-love and youth mania in the middle of their own lives.
