Augusto Jaramillo Pineda
Thanatos has many faces. He promises damnation or redemption, he instills fear, fascinates, threatens, lures, rejects us, or all of these things at once. Pineda lends this contradictory figure enigmatic appearances full of abysmal vehemence. How does death live in us, with us and through us? What does he whose mission it is to end things feel? In a flaming plea for the lively moment, the Colombian-born choreographer presents Thanatos as the driving force of our striving for memorability.

The dance performance “Thanatos” by and with Augusto Jaramillo Pineda, presented by steptext dance project, is the second part of the trilogy, following “Luzbel”, dedicated to the devil, death and god, which was concluded in the 2010/2011 season with “Adonai”.
