DANS LA PEAU DE L’AUTRE
Kossi Sebastien Aholou-Wokawui
How do you meet each other, how does it dance “in the skin of the other”? Full of élan, humour and expressive conviction, Kossi Sebastien Aholou-Wokawui and Tomas Bünger counter the currently growing xenophobic scepticism with its opposite, a danced dialogue of mutual empathy. – Based on research, rehearsals and showings in Bremen and Lomé, they weave their individual movement languages and transfer their aesthetic treasures of experience to each other’s bodies. To music ranging from specially created sounds by the Togolese Lucky Teteh to folk dance sounds from Holstein and compositions by Jóhann Jóhannsson and Franz Schubert, the choreography takes up the impulses of intercontinental exchange. DANS LA PEAU DE L’AUTRE is a multifaceted, dazzling plea for curiosity and openness, in which the desire to penetrate each other in dance leads to dynamic fusions that make one’s own dance in the other and vice versa.
