Christoph Winkler & Ahmed Soura

“You stare at me in amazement, and look at me in wonder? / I can tell, I must do the cuckoo, / Before you can trust me, but I think, / We’ll save up for the trip, for it’s long, / Even when I tell you about myself, / I can look into the water!”
From “The Nibelungen” (Friedrich Hebbel).

Siegfried, Faust or Woyzeck? A dance solo by Christoph Winkler for Ahmed Soura about the visibility of “coloured” actors in German theatre. It belongs to the sanctuaries of German stage culture, it is the dream of all performers, its casting the most noble task of dramaturgy and direction: the leading role! But what if skin colour and origin do not seem to fit the big task?
